The first weekend of December was extra fun because we got to hang out with the McQueens all weekend. Well, Max had to go into work several times when crazy skiers decided to break their tibias or something, but the rest of us got to hang out all weekend.
We started our long weekend with a ride on the Polar Express--I mean the "North Pole Express," which is pretty much like the story of the Polar Express, they just can't call it that.
We love these guys!!

The kids got plenty of sugar--hot chocolate, chocolate cookies, candy canes--all while singing songs, listening to "The Night Before Christmas," and anxiously waiting for Santa.

Funny thing--Santa was locked out of the train for a while. We could see him peeking through the back of the car, but the door was locked and the workers were running back and forth trying to find someone with a key. Finally Santa made it into the car and we were the first to get to see him since we were at the back of the car. Jonah and Wyatt were excited, Emmett not so much.
Mrs. Claus made an appearance later on the ride back. She was very sweet with the babies.

The next morning we drove around for an hour looking for a good sledding hill, but EVERYTHING around here is marked "NO SLEDDING, SKIING, OR SNOWBOARDING." Seriously! It bugs me that people bring lawsuits against companies or state owned areas when they get hurt doing something that everyone knows could lead to an injury, which then makes it so that no one else can go there. Now you have to pay to go sledding at places like Soldier Hollow. We went there a couple weeks ago and it was okay, but it wasn't great sledding--too controlled, none of that fear of dying that I experienced sledding as a child. So we ended up at a little dinky hill. The only plus was that it was short enough that the kids could climb back up it themselves.
As you can see, there wasn't much snow left to sled on, but we managed.

The rest of the weekend was spent hanging out at the Zermatt and swimming in the indoor/outdoor pool. We also made it to Midway for Swiss Christmas.
We got to see Santa...again! Last year in Iowa, it was almost Christmas Eve and I realized that the boys hadn't seen Santa and I started feeling guilty that I wasn't making Christmas magical enough. We ran to the mall, stood in a surprisingly short line (I guess I was the only procrastinator), and they got to sit on Santa's lap. This year they saw Santa at the Sorensen Party, my parents' church Christmas party, on the North Pole Express, at Swiss Christmas, and finally at Max's work party. Jonah realized by the third Santa that it would be a better idea to start asking for something different each time so that he could get more presents. Smart kid.
